About the event
The modular guidance document AC1829 was written by Auckland Council to guide applicants who wished to use more complex modular and prefabricated building products in their building work in the Auckland Region.
It was intended to cover the ‘grey areas’ in the NZ legislative space on how to deal with the more large scale and/or complex building products that were not defined as building work, and as a result also did not require a building consent.
This anomaly in the domestic market created confusion for manufacturer’s and building consent authorities about how building code compliance was established for the products, and this was especially the case where that related to lending and insurability concerns.
The processes and guidance created in AC1829 is how Auckland Council decided to help our customers in the absence of any firm guidance from the MBIE, and this naturally could be adopted for customers who wanted to supply product from offshore.
