HouseMe

HouseMe, a transportable home specialist

HouseMe is a leading provider of affordable housing solutions in New Zealand. With a mission to make quality housing accessible to everyone, the company offers a range of prefabricated units that are durable and customizable. HouseMe has a team of experienced professionals who are dedicated to providing top-notch services to its clients. The company occupies a 2.3-hectare site and has the capacity to construct 1,000 transportable homes per year. All new builds are issued with an Auckland Council Issued CCC. Occupying 23,000 square metres, Auckland-based HouseMe last year opened its brand-new scaled-up headquarters, a huge upsize for the specialist transportable home builder of over a decade, and one which has quadrupled their previous production capacity. HouseMe was recently recognised in the Deloittes Fast 50 Index as one of New Zealand’s Fastest Growing Businesses.

HouseMe National Sales Manager Bryce Glover, light-heartedly says they can barely keep up with demand and despite the upscaling, have a months-long waiting list. On the odd occasion that a customer’s circumstances change and they need to cancel an order, the suddenly-spare units are usually snapped up before close of business the same day.

HouseMe was excited to recently launch a brand new three-bedroom design that they believe will open the doors for many people wanting to downsize. The 50 square designs will retail for $168,000 incl. GST plus delivery.

Their Six locations, in Auckland, Taupō, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Hastings, and the soon to open Palmerston North hold regular open show homes viewings, including on weekends, which Glover thinks plays a significant part in customers becoming comfortable with purchasing a new home. “It’s one thing to see photos, read about the specs and options, and hear about the ease of installation, but really there’s no substitute for coming inside and having a look. Seeing how spacious a well-designed HouseMe tiny home can be, feeling how warm, dry, and comfortable they are, and seeing all the opportunities for things like heat pumps, quality kitchen appliances, and fresh, cosy interiors is something our clients tell us matters, again and again.

“One huge reason for our success” says Glover, “is that we formally approach supply chain management with professional supplier management, including long-term raw material forecasts. Given our significant scale, we receive preferential pricing and treatment from our suppliers, which benefits our customers. We are a successful business, and we carry no debt. We have positive cash flows, and all our suppliers are paid on time every month strictly to the agreed terms of trade. We have always kept our customer deposits at relatively low values of $20k and $30k, depending on the unit size which helps our customers feel comfortable during this turbulent market”. “2023 is absolutely looking like our best year yet”
